The more I think about it, the more I love Memphis. The people we’ve gotten to know here are just incredible people. We had some really, really, really good BBQ with Bryan and the family we’re staying with, and we were laughing so hard at all the banter they had about all these funny things. HA! I guess you had to be there, really.
After eating way too much at lunch, we went over to some of Aubrea’s and Juli’s college friends who happen to be in Memphis now too, and it was equally incredible. They are in love with our music, and we all just talked and got to know each other a little better. They are great story tellers, too. And! They made us another incredible meal that I was way too stuffed for but I ended up finishing anyway because it was too delicious to say no to. I would love to talk more about everything, but Reid needs his computer back.
We played at this little place called Newby’s in Memphis last night. Although almost no one was there, a couple of Aubrea’s friends, and our good friend Rick Trotter showed up and made it fun. I was shocked. They cheered as loud as a packed audience would have, and we made a lot of new fans that happened to be in the bar. Tifah ended up talking to a potentially important contact that knows a lot of people in L.A. He is going to try to bring people to our show there. I talked to a guy named Larry for a good bit, and it was great!
Earlier today, we heard Bryan Loritts speak about OJ Simpson and Jesus. It was very compelling and challenging. Good stuff. Check him out if you want to be moved and affected by good speaking.
I wish I had more to say. Memphis might be one of my favorite places to be. We are staying with this amazing family in this amazing house. Who could ask for anything more?
