Dallas at The Door

Holy cow.

Playing a good show with a packed room of energetic people can make up for at least 28 bad shows.

A couple of night ago in Dallas, we played at a place called the Door on the Gypsy Tea Room stage. It was such a blast. We all played really well. Everyone was so into it. Juli’s whole family came and surprised her by coming. It’s hard to describe how amazing it feels when you know that you’re in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.

It was another weird “no one is at the venue and then everyone shows up out of nowhere to watch us play” show. It’s pretty humbling, really. Sometimes I think being able to play music for a living is just a far fetched dream and I’m going to wake up soon, and things will be ‘normal’ again. Tifah put it well–None of us can really see ourselves doing anything else in the long run. I couldn’t agree more. What’s really exciting too is that next time we roll through Dallas, there’s a good chance all the people there will come see us and bring a friend or two. So cool. Also so cool is isopod, the band that played after us. They have all this amazing moog gear and synth generators and rock out oh so hard. Check them out. Some of the nicest guys I’ve met, too.

We played a show last night too in Manhattan KS at a hotel bar which was surprising too because more people showed up than I expected to that show as well. We played with Moving Rushmore, a great band with really great people.

So here I am at the end of a pretty incredible mini-tour, and everything is just beginning. We’re going to be playing a pretty sweet set of shows with some amazing artists back in Colorado soon. After that we have a few scattered shows, and then out on the road again, this time to Tennessee. Augh. It’s all overwhelming sometimes to think about God’s provision for me. Really, really, overwhelming.

In other news, my website should be up within the week. Woo! Stay tuned for the debut.
