Johnny Schou, the bass player of a band called “Tickle Me Pink” was found dead on tuesday. It was the day that their first national album was debuting. He was only 22. We are friends with the entire band, and were very upset to hear the news. Our hearts and condolences go out to the band, and all their families. Here’s a news story if you want to learn more.
We’re in L.A. and I think I can speak for the band in saying that we’re pretty exhausted. We played the Viper room 2 nights ago and Club Spaceland last night. The Viper room was pretty hectic, and luckily we had some help loading in and out, but it was a ton of fun too. There weren’t too many people there when we started, and by the time we were done there were a fair amount of people! Woo. Also, they liked us a lot, and want us to play there again soon. Our plan is to be out here again sometime in September. Club spaceland was cool too, but almost no one showed up. It was probably for the best since I think we all kinda had a rough night playing for whatever reason. It was still fun though.
Today we’re planning on going down to Long Beach to see where Tifah used to live. After seeing where I used to live and shedding some tears and feeling sorry for my 5 years in the past self, it will be a nice contrast. Both Reid and Tifah couldn’t believe I used to live where I did. I actually had a hard time believing it too. It’s so weird. I’m in such a different and better place than I was 5 years ago, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I really enjoy getting perspective.
After that, we’re not really sure what we’re going to do, but I think a trip to the world famous hotdog stand, Pink’s might be in order. I am stoked about that as well. I also want to see if we can squeeze in a meal from Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Mmmmmmmm. Haha. I talk about food a lot. I think it’s because it is such a precious thing to me. Anyway, I think that about wraps it up. Maybe I’ll have something interesting to write about at a later time. Thanks for sticking with me though.
Mmmmm, chicken and waffles.
Sorry about your friend.
so sad – it’s bittersweet that he’s the subject of some of my favorite live music photos that i’ve taken
