Hollywood is as Hip as Fresno is Freaky.

In the back of my mind, and possibly a few other bandmates’ minds, Hollywood was THE gig. It almost felt like everything in the tour was building towards playing at The Key Club. Maybe this was all only in my head, but I guess it affected my thinking a little bit. I think we played well overall, but unfortunately we had some major technical difficulties during the show and Aubrea’s violin was off for the greater part of the show. :( In any case, I had a great time, and I met some of the nicest, most genuine people that we’ve met on the tour so far. We were able to stay with them, and it was so encouraging just to be around them. I hope we’ll be back soon so we can spend more time with them.

Also, it was fun to see where I used to be when I was 19. Aubrea and I drove around Hollywood the first night we were there, and I showed her all the things I knew about the town. We drove by the studio and where I used to live, and she gasped. (rightly so.) I was even shocked. It feels a little different now though. They have really cleaned it up since the 5 years I’ve been there. I was really surprised. It almost felt as if the time that I lived there was only a dream, and I was just reviewing what had happened in that dream. Pretty odd.

Fresno ended up being 4 hours away but it was a really beautiful drive, with vineyards everywhere. I kinda want to forget about Fresno, so I won’t say much here. The owner of the bar was exceptionally nice, but I think the whole town just gave me the heebie jeebies. Oh well. Tonight we play in Orangevale, which is basically Sacramento. I think some people might show up! Woo. I need to go brush my teeth.
