If anyone is going to go ANYWHERE in Texas I suggest San Antonio. It is so full of Texas history is a great melting pot of culture. And the River Walk...amazing....and has indeed been the location of several movies! Glad you got to go there Dann...Now you have a reference to "The history of Jeff and Cheryl".
